Kroger is bringing free flu shots to thousands of eligible people.
Beginning Friday, Kroger made free flu shot vouchers available to the Salvation Army and Feeding America, the nation's leading domestic hunger relief organization. Uninsured or underinsured shoppers in areas with a Kroger pharmacy, which includes Ottawa and Streator, are eligible. Customers can obtain a voucher at the Salvation Army in Streator or Ottawa. All 123 pharmacies in Kroger Central Division are participating. Kroger pharmacists will administer the flu shots.
Each year in the United States, on average 5 to 20 percent of the population gets the flu; more than 200,000 people are hospitalized from flu-related complications; and about 36,000 people die from flu-related causes. Kroger provides more than one million flu shots to families across the U.S. each year.
