Pharmacist

The Pharmacist is responsible for dispensing prescriptions & coordinating clinical services for specialty drugs. This position is responsible for interacting with the health care professionals  & coordination of patient care. Must also translate prescriptions, perform compounds and dispense pharmaceuticals.

Minimum Education Required

  • A Doctor of Pharmacy (Pharm.D.)

Minimum Experience Required

  • Must be a Registered Pharmacist with at least one year of hospital experience

Licensing

  • Active Maine Pharmacist license in good standing

Responsibilities

  • Prepares medications by reviewing and interpreting physician orders; detecting therapeutic incompatibilities
  • Dispenses medications by compounding, packaging, and labeling pharmaceuticals
  • Controls medications by monitoring drug therapies; advising interventions
  • Completes pharmacy operational requirements by organizing and directing technicians' work flow; verifying their preparation and labeling of pharmaceuticals; verifying order entries, charges, and inspections
  • Provides pharmacological information by answering questions and requests of health care professionals; counseling patients on drug therapies
  • Develops hospital staff's pharmacological knowledge by participating in clinical programs; training pharmacy staff, students, interns, externs, residents, and health care professionals

Pharmacy Technician II

Technicians provide support for multiple facets of the operations of the pharmacy, including exceptional customer service, answer phone in a timely manner, patient interaction, data entry, prescription preparation, third party troubleshooting and sales of prescriptions.

Minimum Education Required

  • High School Diploma / GED
  • Must complete registration with Maine Board of Pharmacy as a pharmacy technician

Minimum Experience Required

  • Must be familiar / proficient with computer use
  • Prior experience / proficiency with i.e. Microsoft Office
  • Must have ability to adapt to work situations such as independent work and/or team environments

  • Indoor, climate controlled office setting
  • Clean, well-lighted quiet surroundings

  • Close proximity to co-workers
  • Minimal ambient noise levels
  • Time sensitive service standards
  • Travel to other locations

Physical Requirements

  • Stooping, reaching, bending, walking, stretching, grasping, repetitive motions
  • Subject to sitting or stand for prolonged periods of time up to 4 hours at a time
  • Visual acuity, to include color, depth perception and field of vision without correction
  • Moderate lifting (up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds frequently, and/or 10 pounds constantly)
  • Sufficient auditory function to hear phones, pages, instrument and/or system alarms, verbal commands
  • Must be able to communicate verbally with others, to include phone and/or radio equipment

Licensing

  • Active Maine pharmacist technician license in good standing

Responsibilities 

  • Demonstrates knowledge/skills of all aspects of the prescription filling process
  • Precise, accurate processing and filling of prescriptions and physician orders under he direction of a registered pharmacist in accordance with all state and federal laws and regulations
  • Demonstrates comfort navigating through prescription processing system
  • Prepares and participate in inventory count preparation and process as required, including cycle counts
  • Maintain a clean, adequate in-date inventory
  • Excellent customer service
  • Receive, transmit and verify inventory replenishment orders or credit return requests
  • Quality Assurance Committee membership
