No matter what industry you work in, time management is a skill that you must master in order to reach your full potential. Whether you’re a pharmacy owner, pharmacist in charge, or pharmacy technician, knowing how successful pharmacy owners manage time can help you mold your work ethic to be more efficient!
Here are 2 main ways successful pharmacy owners manage their time while working:
Prioritize
Prioritization and delegation are two primary ways to manage time. As a pharmacy owner, this is extremely important as it dictates how the entire operation spends its time.
For example, when a new employee is hired on, how much time is set aside to train them and prepare them for their tasks? This should be a top priority so that it will save time in the future when the employee starts working autonomously. If you don’t prioritize that time to train and mold your new employee, you’ll only spend more time later trying to break bad habits.
Additionally, when you prioritize a new employees’ training a priority, they will feel that you care enough about them to set aside time to show them the ropes. This will also make them more confident in their job and make them a better employee overall.
Delegation also falls under prioritization because when you delegate work that doesn’t necessarily have to be done by you, you free your time up for more important tasks that can help the pharmacy grow and become more profitable.
Culture
Is enough time being devoted to focusing on the vision of the pharmacy and keeping the team in sync with that vision? While team members are filling prescriptions, rendering services and other menial tasks, a pharmacy owner has much more valuable tasks to focus their attention.
Culture doesn’t just have to mean within the pharmacy employees, culture can also mean how your patients feel and the experience they have when they come in to pick up their medication.
Successful pharmacy owners are always thinking ahead on how to make their service better, faster and how to give their patients better care. Owners should be thinking about marketing efforts, additional health services and how to create the atmosphere that will have people coming back instead of the drug store down the street!
Even though these two subjects seem simple, they are enough to change the direction of a pharmacy’s success. When you take time to prioritize, delegate, and create a culture that your employees and patients love, your pharmacy will finally be on the way to success!
